The deal is expected to be a heavily incentivized deal. This means that Pierre-Paul will only get paid if he is able to play on Sundays. The deal is his prorated salary of his franchise tag tender worth $14.8 million. After suffering a serious injury on the 4th of July during an unfortunate fireworks accident it is still unknown how effective he can be. Nevertheless the Giants could use his pass rushing skills even if it is initially just on third downs as his role will likely be limited at first.
The Giants are expected to receive a two week roster exception allowing JPP to get into football shape. New York in other words will be allowed to carry 54 players instead of 53. Pierre-Paul and the Giants are shooting for a week 10 return.
