Trash talking is a hallmark of many sports, it’s not always just a physical battle, it’s also a mental battle before and during the game. Players are always looking for that edge. Some people stay quiet and let their play do the talking and some talk to themselves and other people to get themselves going. Nothing wrong with a bit of trash talk. Just as long as you don’t cross the line and talk about mothers. Then you’re asking for trouble.
But when Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo faced New Orleans’ Anthony Davis, he got a bit confused over the trash talk that Davis put on him.
(Davis) was trying to post me and I was using all of my strength, I didn’t let him. He turns around, shoots off balance and scores. As we were running side-by-side, he says to me: “You can’t guard me young fella!” As we were running together towards the Bucks’ offense, I process it and think about it. Dude, what are you talking about? You’re only a year older than me!
I’m even worse than Davis. I’ll call you a kid no matter what. You can be a year older or 20 years older, I’ll call you a kid. I don’t even notice it anymore.
