George Lopez has worked with a number of people throughout his career including Adam Sandler, Sandra Bullock and Jamie Foxx. As he prepares for a new cable comedy series, it appears that he has found a new collaborator and it happens to be his daughter, Mayan. NBC has ordered a pilot of the multi-cam comedy series, Lopez vs. Lopez. According to Variety, the series will follow the story of an everyday family dealing with “dysfunction, reconnection and all the pain and joy in between.”
Debby Wolfe will write the series and work as an executive producer alongside George Lopez and Bruce Helford. Lopez vs. Lopez will serve as a reunion for Helford and Lopez who worked together on George Lopez from 2002 through 2007.
Beyond his work with NBC, Lopez is also currently working on a series with Amazon. The streaming service has also ordered a pilot of Once Upon A Time In Aztlan. As described by Variety, the series “centers on a Chicano family in the deep suburbs of Los Angeles as they come to terms with the falsehoods of the American dream and their ability to defy expectations.”
