I have conveniently had the wonderful pleasure of covering most of the recent stories involving the Sacramento Kings and how much they’re melting from the inside. From head coach George Karl not wanting anything to do with DeMarcus Cousins (even though he keeps spinning it), to Vlade Divac saying they’re not moving DMC.
And on top of all this, is Kings owner Vivek Ranadive. This guy has been relatively quiet through all this and I’m wondering why. Why is the owner not putting his foot down? Seriously this guy has not spoken on anything. According to Sports Illustrated, the relationship between Ranadive and Karl is “Deeply Strained”. You don’t say!
Karl reportedly offered “no objection” to keeping star center DeMarcus Cousins long-term when hired in February. Now, Ranadive is convinced Karl never wanted Cousins in the first place, as trade rumors swirl.
I 100% agree with the owner of this one. When Karl was hired, we all assumed that he was up for the challenge that is Boogie Cousins. If not. Then why the hell did they hire him! The organization and Karl are both at fault here.
Kings shouldn’t have hired a coach that wanted their star traded from the get go. And Karl shouldn’t have taken the job with the explicit view of ditching the star.
