Though 26 angry face emojis should be enough to describe how someone is truly feeling, the same could not be said for Sacramento Kings guard George Hill. Hill tweeted the emojis following a tough 109-104 loss at the hands of the Milwaukee Bucks last Saturday:
??????????????????????????

While the tweet should be pretty self-explanatory, it simply isn’t in today’s NBA when players are constantly posting subliminal messages on social media.
It took Hill a few days to talk about this cryptic message but he finally revealed his thought process regarding that tweet with James Ham of NBC Sports. Hill said the tweet was a sign of his frustration, from that night and also how the season is culminating so far up to this point:
“As a competitor, you get kind of upset at yourself with the way I was playing, losing the game like that when I thought we should have won,” Hill said. “Just a little frustration, but you got somethings like that and somethings going on in my everyday life that I was really affected by.”
Hill’s early season struggles were on full display during that matchup against Milwaukee. A consistent starter in that fluctuating Sacramento backcourt, Hill put up a meager 6 points and 1 assists in 18 minutes against the Bucks.
“The way we started that game, down 14-0, that didn’t sit well with me,” Hill continued. “I’m one of the leaders here, so that affected me that I felt like I let my teammates down.”
The Kings have been one of the more puzzling teams out of the gates this season. They roster plenty of young talent in De’Aaron Fox, Willie Cauley-Stein, Skal Labissiere, Buddy Hield, Justin Jackson, Bogdan Bogdanovic, and even Frank Mason.
However, head coach Dave Joerger seems hellbent on easing his youngsters into the fray as vets such as Hill and Zach Randolph have been key cogs in their rotation thus far.
With a clear bright future ahead of them with their myriad of young talent, deploying their younger, franchise pieces over known commodities could be in their best interest, especially when considering that the team is in no position to contend anytime soon.
