Creed III is not the only boxing film to move its opening bell to the spring of 2023. Deadline has revealed that a George Foreman biopic will hit theaters on April 28, 2023.
“The untitled George Foreman biopic follows the boxer’s life and times, from Olympic Gold medalist to World Heavyweight champion, the Rumble in the Jungle fight with Muhammad Ali in Zaire, to finding his faith, retiring and becoming a preacher,” the film’s description reads, per Deadline.
“When financial hardship hits his family and church, he steps back in the ring and regains the championship at age 45, the oldest heavyweight champion in boxing history.”
Written by Frank Baldwin and directed by George Tillman Jr., the film will star Jasmine Mathews, John Magaro, Sullivan Jones, Sonja Sohn and Forest Whitaker. Khris Davis will tackle the lead role while the championship boxer executive produces the project alongside Wendy Williams.
