UPDATE: Gayle King has been tapped to remain on CBS This Morning. As expected, USA Today has confirmed that Norah O’Donnell will move to CBS Evening News and replace Jeff Glor. John Dickerson will also be moving. The former CBS This Morning co-anchor will be heading to 60 Minutes.
Major changes are expected to come to the set of CBS This Morning. According to multiple reports, CBS This Morning is expected to move co-anchor, Norah O’Donnell, to the evening side of their news coverage. As a result, Gayle King is expected to become the sole anchor and primary focus of the morning news program. The changes are expected to be announced early next week before a major CBS advertising event this month.
The changes are being made by new CBS News President Susan Zirinsky. One CBS staffer told CNN Business, “She’s restructuring pretty much of all of the news division’s talent across the board.” The staffer later said, “It’s really pretty epic.” Another CBS staffer said, “I think her intention is pretty clear: She’s trying to put people back in the places that suit them best.”
As King makes her home on CBS This Morning and O’Donnell moves towards the night shift, CBS anchor, Jeff Glor, is expected to lose his spot on the network’s nightly news program. Glor’s agent issued a statement that reads, “Anyone who knows Jeff knows he is the type of leader and person whose primary concern has been and continues to be the well being of his colleagues.”
CBS News President Susan Zirinsky has yet to publicly comment on these reports.
