The defending Super Bowl Champion Denver Broncos have a highly anticipated quarterback battle underway. Head Coach Gary Kubiak has made it known that any of Denver’s three quarterbacks could win the job. When it comes to former 7th round pick Trevor Siemian, Kubiak states he is absolutely in the mix.
“I think Trevor has a maturity to him. He’s kind of the sleeper, I would say. Trevor knows the offense. He’s very comfortable and can throw the ball too,” coach Gary Kubiak recently said, via The Denver Post. “We’ve also seen him make big plays in the preseason games under the lights. I wouldn’t sleep on Trevor to win the job, either.”
It’s hard for me to imagine Siemian getting the nod despite the high praise from Kubiak. Siemian was the 250th overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft and is still incredibly raw. Factor in his collegiate numbers at Northwestern makes this news a bit of a head scratcher. I anticipate Mark Sanchez heading into the preseason as the starter giving first round pick Paxton Lynch a chance to win the job if Sanchez struggles.
