The Baltimore Ravens season ended Saturday afternoon following a playoff defeat to the New England Patriots. Offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak has already drawn interest from the Chicago Bears and several other team to become their head coach. Kubiak has now told teams he isn’t interested and wants to remain with the Ravens.
“It is flattering and humbling to be invited to interview for a number of NFL head coaching positions, and I greatly appreciate these opportunities,” Kubiak said in a statement.
“But I have decided to stay with the Ravens.“This is a special organization and we, like [Head] Coach [John] Harbaugh says, are building something great. I want to be a part of that and contribute in whatever ways I can.”
Kubiak is considered one of the better offensive minds in the game so his return to Baltimore will bring a smile to a lot of Raven fans. Quarterback Joe Flacco took some strides under Kubiak looking like an elite quarterback this post season. Kubiak’s greatest coaching asset is his zone-running scheme. Justin Forsett who was making the veteran minimum contract this season rushed for over 1,000 yards in this system. Expect the Ravens to be contenders next season once again next year thanks to Kubiak’s presence.
