As fans of Game of Thrones are gearing up for the end, HBO is getting ready for a new beginning. The Game of Thrones prequel added another five series regulars to its already-impressive cast.
Marquis Rodriquez, John Simm, Richard McCabe, John Heffernan, and Dixie Egerickx are all set to join the new series in unspecified roles. They will join Naomi Watts, Josh Whitehouse, Naomi Ackie, Denise Gough, Jamie Campbell Bower, Sheila Atim, Ivanno Jeremiah, Georgie Henley, Alex Sharp, Toby Regbo, and Miranda Richardson.
Plot details for the series have been, unsurprisingly, kept under wraps as the series begins production later this summer. What we do know for sure is that the new series isn’t just a cash grab from the HBO. Bob Greenblatt, the new HBO CEO, confirmed recently that the network would only move forward with a spinoff series if it can replicate the quality of the original.
We may not know specifics but as we’ve learned in both the books and the show, history isn’t always what it seems. And, regardless of the time period, we’ll likely learn some hard truths about our favorite characters’ so-called “heroes.”
Game of Thrones season 8 premieres April 14th on HBO.
