In a year of television of that has included Atlanta, Peaky Blinders, Insecure, This Is Us and much more, Game of Thrones has managed to remain supreme. In a year when HBO and George R.R. Martin released no new episodes of the series, Comcast has named the series as the most streamed series of 2018. Following behind, Comcast’s twenty-two million subscribers also propelled This Is Us, Power, 9-1-1 and The Good Doctor into the top five of most streamed series.
Shortly after, officials from Comcast commented on the list of most streamed series. Brynn Lev of Comcast said, “The fact that that show is still ranked No. 1 across the board when it wasn’t even current is pretty incredible.” He later added, “It shows just how large of a following that show has (and) how new people are still discovering it.”
Season eight of the HBO series is set to premiere in April of 2019. Leading up to the season’s release, reports have surfaced that indicate that the season will focus on a battle of fire and ice. Executive Producer, Bryan Cogman, said, “It’s an incredibly emotional haunting bittersweet final season and I think it honors very much what [author George R.R. Martin] set out to do — which is flipping this kind of story on its head.” The final season will premiere this spring on HBO, but fans can catch up on the series on Comcast.
