We’re getting closer to a premiere date for the final season of Game of Thrones.
Game of Thrones will premiere on HBO in April 2019. The announcement came with a video showing all of the most violent moments from the series. The video promises that ‘Every sacrifice’ and ‘every death’ matters in the quest #ForTheThrone.
Last season ended as Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen were heading north to take one the Night King and his armies. Basically ignoring the white walker threat, Cersei plans to decimate their forces with a mercenary company. There’s no way to know who will survive the ‘bittersweet’ ending but nearly every major character has some kind of claim to the throne.
Past fan-favorite directors Miguel Sapochnik and David Nutter are returning to direct three episodes each. Showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss are set to direct the final episode. This season will apparently feature the show’s biggest battle sequence yet and an episode that is all action. The season will only run for 6 episodes, but the runtime on many of them may be as much as 90 minutes.
No official date has been announced but with a release month set, we can start the countdown.
