Somewhere between Nick’s Gyro and 3 Guys Caribbean Restaurant in Tampa, Florida, one of the brightest young voices in R&B and Soul is debuting what could be your new favorite song.
Gabriel Jacoby approaches each track with a brand of seductive rhythm and new age soul that can be both poetic and conversational, depending on his mood. His latest single and visualizer, “baby,” is more of the latter than the former. Draped in black sunglasses, his eyes stare off to the side as he opens his mouth and sings, “I heard, that you wanted healin’/Somethin ain’t right i feel it/Tell me what’s wrong and I heard, that he ain’t yo man lemme come around I can make sure he’s gone.” The following lines and verses glide across the D.K. the Punisher and James Snow as he stands in the parking lot delivering the kind of game often found in a parking lot outside of the club at around 3 a.m.. Still, when Gabriel Jacoby sings it, it all comes across as calm and confident, not cocky or corny.
“Can I show you off? And put you on like I know that you deserve? Can I give you my attention, baby? Show me where it hurts. Can I help you out every now and then? I’m sure it works. Just trust me, baby, I ain’t gon’ waste yo time,” he continues.
Gabriel Jacoby shares “baby” as the teaser for his next act, a tour with Khamari. The duo will kick the tour off next month in Austin before jetting across the country to New York, Atlanta, Los Angeles, and more than a dozen cities in between. Catch him in a city near you, or catch him in the “baby” visualizer below, or do both.
