Days before the COVID-19 pandemic took hold of the nation, G Herbo popped out with a new project called PTSD. Across fourteen tracks, the Chicago native discusses topics related to mental health and his upbringing. Along the way, he links up with Lil’ Uzi Vert, Chance The Rapper, BJ The Chicago Kid and A Boogie. More than a year later, he is ready to follow up PTSD with a new project called 25. This time around, G Herbo connected with Polo G, Lil’ Tjay, Gunna, 21 Savage, Lil’ Tjay and Rowdy Rebel.
“I feel like 25 is different [from PTSD] in a way,” the Chicago native said during a recent interview with Andre Gee of Complex.
“PTSD, mental health, that’s me. That’s going to always be something that’s true to me because of the importance of mental health. But I’ve grown as an artist, just lyrically and mentally. Where I am [now] is not what PTSD was. I’m in a different head space. [This album] is me telling the story of where I am now and where I come from turning 25 years old. I feel like all my music is a reflection of me, but I want it to be different. As much as I mature, I want my music to mature.”
