HBO Max has delayed production of the upcoming Friends reunion. The special was set to begin production next week at the show’s original studio in Burbank, California. Given the ongoing global pandemic, filming the special is a health risk.
The CDC has urged against large gatherings of more than 50 people. While the cast of the show is rather small, producing a show of this magnitude would require dozens of crew members.
As of Wednesday, the CDC has reported over 7,000 cases of COVID-19 in the United States. Tragically, the death toll inched closer to 100 and landed at 97 on Wednesday.
At the moment, representatives from HBO and Warner Media have not issued a statement. The network has not given a new release date or production schedule for the reunion special.
With a string of delays, HBO will now turn its focus towards a third season of Westworld and a fourth season of Insecure.
More details regarding this highly anticipated special will be reported as they become available.
