When I came across this video I was thinking that it would be a quick 5 minutes of close friends and family. Sending their regards. You know. Like something that your family whipped up as a collective birthday gift.
But Oh no no. This was not 5 quick minutes of close family sending their regards. This was a video, with EVERYONE in it. Literally everybody wished NBA player, coach, analyst, color commentator and pastor Mark Jackson a happy 50th birthday. Name a fellow NBA player, family member, TV colleague, even fellow people of faith and they were in this video. All culminating into one, big, nearly 40 minute video wishing Mark Jackson a happy 50th birthday.
People from his St Johns days such as Chris Mullin and Lou Carnesecca. NBA colleagues such as Reggie Miller and Patrick Ewing to name a few. Even comedian Chris Rock took that chance to joke about the Warriors doing well under a white coach.
I’ll tell you this. If I get a video like that on any birthday! I’d be happy. I didn’t count how many people took time to wish him happy 50th. But man that would be something to watch on your birthday.
Guess all that’s left is. Happy birthday Mark Jackson. Sorry we didn’t give you a video. We didn’t get the memo.
