
Hours before he was set to perform at Azar nightclub in Lyon, French rapper Werenoi reportedly passed away at 31 years old. Werenoi’s friend and frequent collaborator Babs confirmed the late artist’s passing by sharing a message that reads, “Rest in peace my brother[.] I love you!”
Werenoi reportedly missed an appearance on Thursday, May 16, prompting questions about his health. Shortly thereafter, reports surfaced about the award-winning artist being hospitalized after going into cardio-respiratory arrest. Within hours, news of Werenoi’s untimely passing became public.
Werenoi maneuvered through the music industry as private figure, offering few details about his personal life. However, he has managed to built a large fanbase through projects like Telegram, Telegram 2, Pyramide and Pyramide II. Along the way, he earned the attention of nearly 7 million monthly listeners on Spotify while winning “Male Revelation of the Year” award at Les Flammes in 2023 and Album of the Year for Pyramide II in 2024.
As news of his passing reverberates around the industry, fans have raced to social media to share their condolences.
