Robert Englund is returning to reprise his role as the one who haunts your nightmares… Freddy Krueger. ABC has announced that Englund will put on the striped sweater and claws for one episode on the TV Show ‘Goldbergs’.

Englund’s haunting character was first introduced to us in 1984 in Wes Craven’s ‘A Nightmare On Elm Street’ and continued to haunt us throughout the 80’s with 5 different sequels that had him haunting dreams of teenagers. It was horrifying back then and it was horrifying when he reprised his role to face off against Jason in Freddy vs. Jason. The man is a legend for putting on the sun-burnt mask and scare the crap out of every child that’s laid their eyes on his frightening claws.
I vividly remember having nightmares about him for years when I was a kid. Every time he came on TV, I’d close my eyes and somehow this man would still creep into my dreams. Guess he really did have the effect of ruling your nightmares. While his appearance on the ‘Goldbergs’ will be more for comedic purposes than anything, it should give kids like me some good (and bad) memories of the once horrifying entity.
