Frank Vogel Signs Extension With Pacers
The Indiana Pacers and head coach Frank Vogel have agreed on a multi-year contract extension, the team announced Wednesday. Vogel is going into his fourth full season as the Pacers’ head coach. The terms of his extension have yet to be released.
Larry Bird, president of basketball operations for the Pacers, said this in a statement,
We’re very happy to extend Frank’s contract. I believe he has done a great job, and I look forward to continuing our relationship and working together to achieve all of our goals.
Vogel’s career record is 147-82 and has led the Pacers to two Eastern Conference Finals appearances.
Indiana’s sudden struggles last season called Vogel’s job security into question, but he’ll have more opportunities to continue building up the identity of this Pacers team.
Without Paul George and Lance Stephenson, the Pacers are expected to struggle this upcoming season. Vogel says that his team will still surprise some people, which is the kind of stern confidence that Larry Bird clearly wanted to keep around.
