The Indianapolis Colts have fired Head Coach Frank Reich after a disappointing start to the season and a quarterback replacement. It seems the team felt the move was needed before the season ended and now they have longer to search for their next Head Coach. The Colts have had a disappointing season in about every aspect of the game and while Reich wasn’t the only problem it was clear he was a big part of it. Changes needed to be made and the Colts’ management decided not to wait for the end of the season.

Frank Reich was named the Indianapolis Colts Head Coach in 2018 and early success made it look like the right move. Overall he led the team to a record of 40-33-1 with a postseason record of 1-2. The last few seasons have seen a significant dip in production on the field. Even then, the Colts never won the AFC South under the tenure of Reich. Colts owner Jim Irsay expects better from his franchise in a relatively weak AFC South.

The Colts now have the rest of the season to evaluate other names in the NFL and the members left on their own coaching staff as well. With Frank Reich gone, the likely name to serve as the interim Head Coach is special teams coordinator Bubba Ventrone. At 3-5-1 the Colts are only just a few games behind the 5-3 Tennessee Titans for the lead in the AFC South.
