After a scorching hot start to their season, the Phoenix Suns have started to come back down to earth with a record of 14-21 through their first 35 games. Now Phoenix will also have to deal with a serious injury to one of their key contributors in Frank Kaminsky.
According to a release from the team, Kaminsky suffered a stress fracture to his right patella and will be re-evaluated in four weeks. Kaminsky had been battling soreness in his leg the past couple of weeks and missed their previous two games before now being shut down.
Phoenix Suns forward/center Frank Kaminsky III will be sidelined indefinitely with a right patella stress fracture. There is no timetable set for his return and he will be re-evaluated in approximately four weeks. Updates on his status will be provided as appropriate.
While Frank Kaminsky is far from the biggest name on the Suns’ roster, he’s been an important part of their rotation. Kaminsky started 13 games at center for the Suns and is averaging 11 points and 4.9 rebounds per game so far this season.
Starting center and second-year star Deandre Ayton just returned from injury himself after missing five games with a sprained ankle. Prior to the injury, Ayton also missed 25 games due to a suspension.
Now as Ayton finally gets comfortably back into the fold, Kaminsky will miss at least a month with a leg injury of his own. With Kaminsky sidelined, expect Ayton to continue receiving a full helping of minutes while Aron Baynes and Dario Saric should also see larger roles moving forward.
