Big blow for France here. As the FIBA World Cup starts, Ian Mahinmi’s ends. According to the IndyStar, Pacers Center Ian Mahinmi will be out 2-3 months due to a shoulder injury. Quotes are from the man himself during a press conference. The IndyStar translated the French.
“The injury prevents me from playing. The shoulder is dislocated, is resocketed … The risks are high. My health is better to stop.”
He added that it’s an old injury.
“The injury was incurred before the playoffs. But it did not stop me from playing. I have not missed a practice or a game.“
It’s a shame he pulled out now and not earlier. Maybe the rehab would’ve been less than 2-3 months, the French still have a good squad and will go deep into the World Cup. For Indiana, this just adds to the problems really, hopefully he can come back for the start of the NBA season but that’s speculation.
