Former Maryland standout Dez Wells went undrafted in Thursday’s 2015 NBA Draft, but reached an agreement to play in summer league with the Washington Wizards. Wells originally had a workout with the Wizards at Verizon Center on June 10th and made a good enough impression for the team to make a deal after the draft was completed.

Many Wizards fans were hoping for Wells, a player whom many in the DMV rooted for while he was at Maryland, and ended up having their dreams come true.
To make Washington’s roster once the season comes along, Wells is going to have to prove his worth in summer league. Because of his height, he has to become more of a guard rather than somebody who lives around the rim. An increase in skill level is needed immediately for Wells to make an impact in this league, or even just a roster.
Wells got a chance, which is all he could ask for. Now, it’s his time to prove his worth and get the job done.
