As if I really need to hear about Donald Sterling more in the news. Donald Sterling and wife, or soon to be ex-wife, have had their fights, but Shelly was there when Donald was being accused of all those racist remarks made during the 2014 NBA Playoffs, which left the Clippers in a weird stage of the franchise. Now time has passed, the Clippers owner is now a favorite in the NBA (Steve Ballmer), and the Clippers are an even better team then they were 2 years ago. No Sterling, no problem. I think the Sterling’s have come to the same conclusion. They are getting a divorce.
According to Dan Woike of the Orange County Register:
In documents acquired by the Register, Donald Sterling filed for divorce Tuesday in Superior Court of California in Los Angeles, 16 days before the couple’s 60th anniversary.
I wouldn’t be able to even think about being married for 60 years, that in itself is an accomplishment. I really do hope this is the last of the Donald Sterling news, and the Los Angeles Clippers organization can move on. They have a lot to move on to. They are one of the best teams in the Western Conference in terms of roster and depth, and next year will be their best shot to win with an aging Chris Paul and two savvy big men in DeAndre Jordan and Blake Griffin. Will we see the Clippers in the Finals for the first time ever? Donald Sterling would be mad.
