According to Marc Stein of ESPN Shaun Livingston and The Golden State Warriors have agreed to a 3 year deal with the chance to make $16 million. Steph Curry finally has filled a big need for The Warriors and possibly the biggest void that was left when Jarrett Jack left Golden State at the back up point guard position. Livingston was The Brooklyn Nets back up last year, but also started 54 games for The Nets. Livingston averaged 8.3 PPG and 3.2 AST per game, while those aren’t the greatest stats Livingston does things that don’t show up on the stat sheet as well. Livingston’s size and length gives him a great advantage against other point guards. He can get to the basket and is a pretty good shooter, but his court vision will certainly help Golden State to help move the ball movement for Golden State. One word to describe Livingston’s game would be unselfish.
Livingston has truly earned this contract after suffering a career threatening injury to his knee in 2007 while tearing three of the four ligaments in his knee. That description doesn’t do the injury justice either, the injury was as gruesome as it gets. His career looked all but over when it happened, but Livingston shocked everyone and made his comeback with Miami back in the 2008-2009 season appearing in 4 games and that’s when his career took off yet again getting smaller deals with seven other teams. With each team you saw his confidence grow and his game progressed with each stop. Livingston is one of the better comeback stories in The NBA. For Brooklyn losing Livingston hurts both in the locker room and on the court.
