Forest Whitaker has reportedly joined the cast of Southpaw.
The Butler actor will team up with Jake Gyllenhaal in the upcoming boxing drama, according to Variety.
Southpaw is centered around a boxer who wins a major title. However, he soon suffers a tragedy and has to earn back the respect of his young daughter by putting his life back together.
Whitaker will play Gyllenhaal’s trainer in the movie.
Antoine Fuqua will direct the project from Kurt Sutter’s script.
Whitaker recently completed filming of Liam Neeson’s Taken 3.
