With Father’s Day coming up this weekend, we can all use this time of year to appreciate our fathers and how they have raised us into who we are today. A lot of young men are shaped by their father and wouldn’t be where they are today without their dads and that certainly remains true for professional athletes of all kinds.
With the 2017 NBA Draft also approaching and set to take place next week on June 22nd, this is a very special time for the fathers of all the young prospects set to start a promising career for themselves as a professional. Both the fathers and the young players have done a lot to get to this point in their lives and the feeling they will have on Draft Day after seeing their work pay off will be unparalleled.
Knowing this, Sportswear Company Foot Locker put together a brand new father’s day commercial starring some of the biggest names in this year’s draft class. In the advertisement, we see Foot Locker feature De’Aaron Fox out of Kentucky, Lonzo Ball of UCLA, Jonathan Isaac of Florida State, and Jayson Tatum out of Duke, four players who are all expected to be selected with a lottery pick.
In the commercial, the stars thank their fathers for the support and dedication they’ve shown throughout what must’ve been a rollercoaster journey towards making the NBA.
However, there wasn’t all praise as Lonzo Ball used the ad to poke some sarcastic fun at his boisterous father LaVar who has caught multiple headlines for his antics. Ball is one of the few real options for the Los Angeles Lakers with the second overall pick and his father has been just as involved in this whole process as anyone else.
Either way, it’s surely all out of love in celebration of the most important man in most of our lives. You can watch the ad below via Foot Locker on YouTube:
