At this point, girl groups are hard to find for a variety of reasons. Creative differences between members, financial disputes or just flat out disagreements between the label and group are just a few reasons that come to mind. With all of that said, they still appear from time to time. Danity Kane, Fifth Harmony and Little Mix are three groups that have found success over the last 10-15 years in the wild music industry. Now, a new girl group out of the UK may try to take a shot at it. Meet FLO!
Inspired by the likes of Brandy, Aaliyah and Mya, the London-based trio of Stella, Renée and Jorja uses their angelic vocals to tell stories of love, friendship, hardships and much more. Their most recent single, “Cardboard Box,” brings us back to day’s of Beyoncé and Ne-Yo’s hit record, “Irreplaceable.” Harmonizing over MNEK’s production, the trio tells their significant others that they can find their stuff in a cardboard box near the door after being caught cheating.
“I got a confession/I don’t think I want you anymore/There’s no room for questions/I saw her panties on the bathroom floor,” Stella sings.
“So I’ma put your sh*t in a cardboard box/Changing my number and I’m changing the locks/When you can’t get in, oh, your heart gon’ stop.”
FLO is nearing a deal with Island Records and has more music on the way. Check out their new single, “Cardboard Box,” below and be on the look for more to come from the trio.
