Flip Saunders Won’t Coach Timberwolves On Wednesday Due To Family Illness
The Minnesota Timberwolves will be without Flip Saunders, their head coach and president of basketball operations, on the sideline against the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday. Saunders let the team know he would be leaving to be with his ailing father in Cleveland.
Minnesota goes to New York to play against the Knicks on Friday. No word if Saunders will be back by then.
Timberwolves assistant Sam Mitchell will fill in for Saunders on Wednesday night. Mitchell was the head coach of the Raptors from 2004 to 2008. He joined Flip Saunders’ staff in Minnesota this season.
