Netflix’s A Series of Unfortunate Events is returning for its final season with the new year. Season 3 of the popular series will hit Netflix January 1st, 2019. The series is based on the young adult book series of the same name.
While speaking to EW, showrunner Barry Sonnenfeld said that season 3 will be “the most emotional season yet. It’s got a lot of action, and the kids have become much more proactive and [fewer] victims.”
Harris’ Count Olaf and Patrick Warburton’s narrator, Lemony Snicket, both appeared in a new trailer announcing the date. “All will be revealed,” they tease in a trailer light on plot details. What we do know are the books being adapted to finish the series. The final season will adapt the last four books in the series: The Slippery Slope, The Grim Grotto, The Penultimate Peril, and The End.
Along with Harris and Warburton, Malina Weissman, Louis Hynes, and Presley Smith will return as the Baudelaire orphans. Newcomer Aliso Williams, who played Lemony’s sister Kit Snicket, will also return in a larger role.
