Over the past few months, Fetty Wap has remained out of the spotlight for the most part. Aside from collaborations with DJ Envy, A Boogie With Da Hoodie and Tekashi 6ix9ine, Fetty’s major focus has been improving his hometown of Patterson, New Jersey. Over the past few months, Fetty has been apart of numerous philanthropic efforts including a grocery giveaway at a local supermarket. In addition, his latest video, “Love the Way”, gave a platform to many of his biggest fans to showcase their talents on a grand stage. Today, Fetty Wap moved his focus back to music with the release of his newest project, Bruce Wayne. The eleven track project is named Bruce Wayne as a way to allude to Batman, a superhero who keeps a secret identity while giving back to the community much like Fetty Wap does. The cover of the mixtape also pays homage to his community by including the tombstones of his grandparents who inspired his philanthropic efforts over the past few years.
While the project does not have any features, Fetty Wap does a great job of holding your attention for the entire thirty minutes. Standout records like “Strawberry Kush” remind listeners why we were all interested in his music to begin with. On the love record, Fetty sings, “I love how you love me got me feelin’ like you care and the way I think ‘bout you evidently make it clear that/I want you forever, so forever I’ll be there and I really meant forever, baby, not a couple years, baby/That’s a couple fights that a couple tears, yeah/That’s a couple nights that Zoovie won’t be there, yeah.” Other records like “Hit Some Corners” and “Wavy” also show that Fetty has not lost a step in the musical arena.
