The Golden State Warriors are very similar to the Seattle Seahawks if you think about it. They both got championships in the perfect window. Where the most important players didn’t get their money yet and ended up proving that they don’t just want the money, they proved that they deserved the money. Draymond Green did it, Russell Wilson did it.
Festus Ezeli on the other hand, still needs to make some moves, he’s spent his years in Oakland primarily as a bench player. Now he can be an unrestricted free agent next year. Which only means, Dollar Dollar Bills y’all! But he isn’t thinking much about it.
Ezeli says he’s unconcerned about a new deal, leaving the issue to agent Bill Duffy.
“I deal with playing and training and getting ready for next season,” Ezeli said. “In terms of that stuff, I’m not really worried about it. The Warriors are committed to their players. They love our team. We’re going to be winning for a long time. It’s a young group.”
Ezeli has made a name for himself, unfortunately that name is ‘the big dude with the bad hands’. But he’s a good defensive player so that’s a plus.
“I have coaches that are dedicated to helping me,” Ezeli said, singling out veteran assistant Ron Adams. “I worked with Ron every day. Ron has a vision for what he thinks I can be in this league. He thinks I can be a very big defensive force, but at the same time he also has high hopes for my offense. Coach Kerr says the same thing.”
That’s what he has going for him, just a matter of building on that strength. Literally and figuratively.
