Week 8 was absolutely crazy. I hope nobody played against Ben Roethlisberger or Tom Brady, and if you happened to own either of those guys, I hope you started him. I’m not going to type a super long intro that none of you would read anyway. Let’s get right into week 9.
Teams on bye: Detroit Lions, Chicago Bears, Atlanta Falcons, Buffalo Bills, Green Bay Packers, Tennessee Titans
Weekly Pickups (ownership percentages as of 10/29/14 on espn.com):
- Allen Robinson (6.2%): With Blake Bortles at QB, Allen Robinson leads the Jags in targets. However, in an offense that bad his upside is fairly limited. Still, he’s certainly a viable option this week with so many top-flight receivers on bye.
- Carson Palmer (14.7%): How is this guy owned in less than 15% of leagues!? He’s a borderline top 10 QB. If you own Matt Stafford, Jay Cutler, Matt Ryan, or Aaron Rodgers, Palmer is a great fill-in this week. Pick him up. In the four games Carson has started this year, he averages 18.75 fantasy points, good for 6th best among QBs – slightly ahead of DREW BREES. Need I say more?
- Brandon LaFell (22.3%): LaFell is a key part of a Tom Brady offense that is back to being one of the best in the league. Not much analysis required here. Brandon LaFell should be owned in every league.
- Denard Robinson (30.5%): After two straight 100+ yard games, it’s safe to say Denard Robinson is the guy in Jacksonville. He’s looking really good, averaging 5.9 yards per carry since becoming the lead back for the Jags. He absolutely needs to be owned.
- Ronnie Hillman (39.6%) I discussed him last week, so this is going to be very brief: RONNIE HILLMAN IS THE STARTING RUNNING BACK ON THE BEST OFFENSE IN FOOTBALL. PICK HIM UP AND START HIM EVERY WEEK.
- Deeper league adds: Jonas Gray, Davante Adams, Martavis Bryant, Donte Moncrief, JOSH GORDON (will be back VERY soon), John Brown, Charles Sims, Travaris Cadet, and Theo Riddick.
I’m breaking my fantasy football columns up into two separate ones: Weekly Pickups and Like/Dislike.
