The Atlanta Falcons have made their first move of the new league year. The Falcons made an important pick up in Matt Schaub. ESPN’s Adam Schefter has reported Schaub will return to the team that originally drafted him.
QB Matt Schaub to Atlanta, reunites with Kyle Shanahan. Had best years in Houston under Shanahan.

Schaub originally was drafted by the Falcons in the 3rd round of the 2004 draft. He was later dealt to the Houston Texans in 2007 where he did enjoy some success including two playoff runs. More importantly it reunites him with Kyle Shanahan who was the Texans offensive coordinator during that run.
Schaub spent the 2015 season as Joe Flacco’s back up. He is unlikely to play much in Atlanta as Matt Ryan has only missed two career games in 8 seasons. Nevertheless finding a quality backup quarterback can not be understated. Interestingly enough Matt Schaub is the career leader in interceptions returned for touchdowns.
