Facebook Gaming has launched a new program that will highlight Black creators. Committing $10 million to Black creatives over two years, the social media platform will provide a select group of Black gamers mentorship, early product access and community support. Best of all, the program will provide creators with guaranteed monthly pay. Facebook has said that the monthly payout would be based on “the quality of their content and the scale of their audience.”
“Game streaming brings people together in a powerful way over a shared passion for games, and we hope to encourage more people to express their creativity through gaming,” the social media platform stated.
Facebook’s $10 million gaming program is part of a larger initiative. Over the summer, the company committed $200 million toward supporting Black creatives and Black-owned businesses across the country.
“Achieving racial justice and equity is a goal all of us share – and a goal that will take real work to achieve. This is just the start of how we plan to help in this fight. We’ll continue to listen and take action to support the long-term success of the Black community,” the company stated.
Applications for the gaming program now available through the company’s website.
