
Less than a month after Netflix debuted the Chris Hemsworth led film, Extraction, Joe Russo has closed a deal to write the sequel.
Aside from Russo’s involvement, not much else has been confirmed. The film’s lead, Hemsworth, has not announced that he will return. In addition, director Samuel Hargrave has not yet signed on to return.
Russo wrote the first installment of what could be a lucrative series for the streaming platform. Reports indicate that nearly 90 million viewers have tuned into see the film since it premiered on April 24, 2020.
The first film followed Hemsworth’s character, Tyler Rake, as he embarks on a journey to rescue a kidnapped child.
“Tyler Rake (Chris Hemsworth) is a fearless black market mercenary who embarks on the deadliest mission of his career when he’s enlisted to rescue the kidnapped son of an international crime lord.” Netflix writes.
There’s no word on when the sequel will be released, but the original is now available on Netflix.
