Evan Turner has been doing his part to remain in the minds of the Boston Celtics when it comes to his play. He’s been putting up some solid stats for the Celtics delivering 2 triple-doubles this season, the first 2 of his career. Last night when the Celtics visited the New York Knicks Turner put up 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists in the Celtics’ win over the Knicks but he did also have 5 turnovers.
Turner’s turnovers might have coach Brad Stevens bothered a little bit but as long as the team wins then that’s fine. The thing is, apparently Turner is taking heat from his coach. Instead of Turner going right at Stevens, he’s taking it to Stevens son, Brady.
In the #Celtics locker room, Evan Turner says to Brad Stevens' son Brady, "Tell your dad to stop yelling at me."

Brad Stevens' kid in locker room, tells Evan Turner "You're in the top 25 in statistics."
Turner: "Thanks, tell Danny Ainge that."

Turner is of course having some fun with this. He’s taking advantage of a fun situation that they have in Boston where everything right now seems to be a dramatic over achievement from where people thought they would be at the beginning of the season. Or after the Rajon Rondo trade. Or after the Jeff Green trade. They’re in the playoffs right now and want to be that one surprising team that makes some noise.
The exact statistics Stevens’ son is referring to may not be obvious to the average fan but he might have gotten a glimpse at his dad’s analytics report which might have Turner in the top 25 of a specific statistical category. Give it up to Turner who is on a two-year contract with the Celtics which is very friendly for the team to easily move if they needed to. He’s getting tight with the coach’s son which may help him in the long run when he’s trying to keep a spot on the team.
