With Turner Network emerging as one of the top broadcast systems in the country, they have thrived off sports, largely thanks to the stellar work of anchor Ernie Johnson.
Now with the beginning of the NBA season and MLB playoffs right around the corner, Johnson will be forced to step away from announcing for a period. According to a tweet sent out by Turner Sports, Johnson has been diagnosed with blood clots in his legs and won’t be calling the MLB postseason.

One of the most respected media personalities in the sports world, the MLB will surely miss Ernie Johnson as he is forced into an absence due to his health. The MLB playoffs are set to begin Oct. 2 and will air live on Turner along with ESPN, Fox Sports and MLB Network.
Johnson has been the host of Turner’s popular pregame show, “Inside the NBA”, since 1990. He now hosts the show alongside NBA legends Kenny Smith, Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley.
Though Johnson doesn’t mention whether he will be available for the beginning of the NBA season which begins in over two weeks, his health is rightfully his number one priority. Hopefully Johnson recovers from this recent setback safely and quickly and is able to return behind the screen soon.
