The Oklahoma City Thunder lost star forward Kevin Durant this summer to the Golden State Warriors. Considering the circumstances of his departure, it’s no surprise that there are some hurt feelings left by it in the Thunder locker room.
The latest player to show some of that is Enes Kanter. The big man decided to throw some shade at his former teammate when asked about Russell Westbrook becoming the team’s leader this year:
Enes Kanter on Westbrook as a leader this year: "He was our leader last year, too."

Kanter is obviously giving a little nudge to Durant. Unlike some of his other teammates, Kanter does not want to let this go. That said, he’s not entirely lying either.
Despite Durant being the clearly better player, Westbrook has always seemed like the more vocal leader. Depending on players’ leadership preferences, that may make him seem like the unquestioned one for the Thunder.
Regardless, this is not an important topic anymore. Westbrook is quite clearly the leader of the Thunder now. Whether Enes Kanter believes he was last season or not is a moot point. But now Kanter will have to survive a full season under angry, leader Russ and that should be a treat to watch.
