Scottish singer/songwriter and former medical school student Emeli Sandé was nominated for the 2012 Brit Award nominee for British Breakthrough Act and winner of Critics Choice. Emeli’s “Our Version Of Events” album this week topples reigning queen Lana Del Rey from the UK Official Albums Chart throne, and also becoming 2012’s second fastest-seller so far in the UK. Smashing the 100k sales barrier with a first week sale of over 113,000 copies and is just getting started and makes its debut this week at No. 46 on the official ARIA chart.
Supported already by Nova Network, Max and Channel [V] in Australia, the album features the single “Heaven” and recent single, “Next To Me“ which is currently iTunes Australia Single Of The Week. Her latest single “Next To Me” is yet another flawless track with a pop classic sound of emotion and heartfelt lyrics. Could be about a boy, or even perhaps be spiritual in its sentiment? In fact, It was written about her number one love; Music! “You won’t find him drinking under tables/ Rolling dice and staying out till 3/ You won’t ever find him being unfaithful/ You will find him next to me.” says Emeli Sandé.
Considered without trying to be too clever, a moment in musical time, This is a distinctly British record with undeniable global appeal created by one of the most exciting debut artists I have seen in recent years.
