Elton Brand retired for a reason right? I mean he left the game last summer, his last team was the Atlanta Hawks. I had to research that one, because I thought his contract in Dallas ran out and he just couldn’t find work. Just goes to show that a veteran voice is always good to have. Which is something the Philadelphia 76ers have refused to accept until now, signing Brand.
Elton returned to the NBA officially with a team training and according to CSN Philly, he cannot be happier.
“It’s surreal,” he said. “It’s a lot of fun, coming in, not too many expectations on the court. I ran great, felt great, but I didn’t get a chance to get sore yet. … I’m out there hacking and doing what I can do to try to get the guys better.“
But among everything the game involves, the thing he missed the most was trash talking.
“Honestly, the trash talk,” he said. “That was fun, talking trash and trying to win the games and all that. Just competing. That’s what I missed the most.“
Brett Brown is happy to finally have a veteran that knows what he’s doing.
“His mind is A-plus and his purpose and our collective understanding of why he is here is A-plus,” head coach Brett Brown said. “It’s pretty cool to have somebody like that around with that résumé and that clear understanding of how he can help us and me the most.“
Brown is so grateful for the help, you can tell by what he says that he’s just feeling the job getting that little bit easier. I mean the Sixers will still take countless L’s but now they actually look like they have a pulse as a franchise. It’s a miracle.
