The eighth defendant in the Tekashi 6ix9ine racketeering case has pleaded guilty.
According to Complex, Kintea “Kooda B” McKenzie pleaded guilty to “assault with a dangerous weapon in aid of racketeering” in Manhattan District Court, Monday. McKenzie is allegedly connected to the Chief Keef shooting last June, where he reportedly accepted a $10,000 to shoot Keef. Tekashi named McKenzie as the shooter during his guilty plea. McKenzie is facing a maximum sentence of 20 years behind bars.
U.S. Attorney Geoffrey S. Berman stated in court, “Today, Kintea McKenzie admitted his responsibility for a brazen shooting in bustling Times Square.”
He continued,
“In coordination with Tekashi 6ix9ine and other Nine Trey gang members, McKenzie arranged to have another individual shoot at a rival gang member. We continue our daily work with our law enforcement partners to keep our communities safe and to vigorously investigate acts of violence committed by gang members.”
McKenzie’s sentencing is slated for October 4. In addition, Complex reports that in July, “five of the 11 defendants will be handed their sentences.” Tekashi’s sentencing is expected to take place in January of next year.
