So December basketball is under way and I stopped to look at the Eastern Conference… And how terrible it is! My god what is going on?!
Anyway. If you look back in my archives you would see my top 5 predictions for the East (1. Miami, 2. Indiana, 3. Chicago, 4. Brooklyn, 5. Knicks) and obviously that’s out the window with New York and Brooklyn absolutely bombing and Chicago struggling to just keep a .500 record.
Now that was pretty much everybody’s prediction and if it weren’t then pat yourself on the back.
So with that in mind I thought I’d update my predictions and say who are the best of the rest.
Now this is not a prediction on records like NBA Power Rankings, it’s just based on who I think are brilliant overall. Like when Colin Cowherd does his “Blazing Top 10”. He doesn’t judge it by records, he judges it by potential.
Right. Lets get into it.
1. Miami Heat – I don’t think there’s a wrong answer if you put Miami the Indiana or vice versa. They’re both great teams I just think Miami are more capable when it comes to experience.
2. Indiana Pacers – Again no wrong answer it’s just my opinion. Deep squad without doubt and it turns outing doesn’t matter if Roy Hibbert has an off game or not bs use the rest of the team can make up for it.
3. Detroit Pistons – I… Love this team. The starting 5 is one of the most legit I’ve seen. Jennings, scores at will, Stuckey, knows the team inside and out, Smith, can do nearly anything asked of him, Monroe, amazing post player and finally Drummond, well you know how beast I think he is.
4. Chicago Bulls – With Derrick Rose now out it seems like the Bulls are done, but they’ve been through this before and handled themselves quite well, solid team players and all play with a lot of heart. It’s hard to keep them down and I think 4th is a decent place to put them.
5. Washington Wizards – Yes I said it. Washington to me are the 5th best team in the Eastern Conference. Come at me. John Wall is LE…GIT (if you can’t spell I said legit)and because the Wizards have had similar core players in the past 2-3 years chemistry is not a problem (unlike Brooklyn).
So I’ve put my neck on the line.
Detroit, Chicago and Washington are the best of the rest. I mean you can pock anyone from the list. It could even be Milwaukee (they won’t but I’m proving a point).
It’s like the name of Cowherd’s new book, “I’ll say it if nobody else will”.
