The Philadelphia Eagles are tweaking their roster in regard to the backup quarterback position. The Eagles have decided to sign former Eagles quarterback Nick Foles and release incumbent backup Chase Daniel. NFL Network reporter added the details on Foles while Adam Caplan of ESPN first reported the decision to cut Daniel.
Foles became a free agent when the Chiefs declined his team option earlier this offseason. He is set to sign a 2-year deal worth $11 million which is quality money for a backup. Foles, 28, was originally drafted by the Eagles in the 3rd round from Arizona in 2012. His best season came in Philly after a 27-2 touchdown to interception ratio. Foles didn’t fare nearly as well with the Rams or Chiefs. In 2016 he completed 36 of 55 attempts for 410 yards to go along with three touchdowns and zero interceptions
Foles will replace Chase Daniel who was signed just last year after spending his entire career with the Chiefs. He is still owed $7 million on his contract for this upcoming season. That money is fully guaranteed. Daniel, 30, will likely have plenty of suitors on the open market.
