Earl “E-40″ Stevens has donated 1,000 gallons of hand sanitizer to incarcerated people at San Quentin and USP Lompoc State Prison.
“Lompoc has the most cases I wanted to really target them mainly, but I was like let me take care of San Quentin as well,” Stevens said during an interview.
“I can’t save the world but I can play my part. I can help a few,” he added.
USP Lompoc has been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. The prison has reported 912 cases, which is the most of any facility in the country. Unfortunately, they’ve only been able to test half of the people currently incarcerated there.
At San Quentin State Prison, six staff members have tested positive for the virus. Protests formed outside of the prison earlier this month.
Together, more than 3,500 people have been released from California state prisons because of the pandemic.
