The Chicago Bulls have surprised everyone by jumping out to a 2-0 lead in their first-round series against the top-seeded Boston Celtics. And lest you think you’re the only one shocked by the current results, Bulls’ guard Dwyane Wade is here to tell you otherwise.
Following via Nick Friedell of ESPN:
“Yeah,” Wade said with a smile before Thursday’s practice. “I’m going to lie? We’re a confident team, but you don’t think you’re going into Boston and get two. You’re just trying to get one, that’s your focus. But once you’ve got that one, now it’s just another game. Now you got to try and get the next one. But coming in, I didn’t say, ‘Hey, we’re going to be up 2-0 on Boston.’ No one thought that. But we are in this position and we’ve earned it.
Kudos to Wade for his honesty. The Bulls were a mess for much of the season and seemed to be dysfunctional from top to bottom.
They’re currently playing the best basketball of their season and should be favored to pull off the upset over the Celtics. As impressive as that is, no one saw it coming. That’s what makes this even more special.
