Rajon Rondo, out of his prime, is still one of the best playmaking point guards in the world. He and shooting guard Dwyane Wade are both new to the Chicago Bulls. Formerly bitter rivals, the two will now share a backcourt, and Dwyane Wade is excited, per CSN Chicago’s Vincent Goodwill:
In what shouldn’t come as a surprise, Wade called Rajon Rondo “the best point guard I’ve ever played with."

As Goodwill noted in his tweet, this should come as no surprise. Wade and Rondo are new teammates. They’re going to say nice things about each other, that’s just how it works. Furthermore, Rondo doesn’t really have much competition as the best point guard to play alongside Wade. Most notably, Wade has played with Mario Chalmers, Jason Williams, a well-past his prime Gary Payton, and Goran Dragic. None of these players are quite up there with Rondo. The closest is definitely Dragic, but Wade played with him during a down year (which was probably at least in part due to him sharing the backcourt with Wade). The two troubled to share the ball and Dragic averaged fewer points per game (14.1) than he had in any season since 2011-12. Dragic also shot a career-low 31.2% from three-point range last season. Looking at it objectively, Rondo simply had the better year (11.9 points, 11.7 assists, 6.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals on .454/.365/.580).
