Pat Riley has been around the block many times, he’s seen it all and clearly is a man that sticks by his own morals. That means that if Dwyane Wade asks for something that he most likely deserves, Don Riley won’t budge and think about the future of the team. He isn’t part of the Lakers anymore.
This mindset and the fact that he didn’t call his franchise player throughout the whole process, left the taste between Pat Riley and Dwyane Wade sour to say the least. Wade is now in Chicago and has recently spoken on how he left it with the Don of South Beach.
“It’s going to be a lot of stuff said about me and Pat. First of all, I love Pat. He has a job to do. He has a different hat to wear,” Wade told reporters at his youth basketball camp in downtown Miami. “That hat sometimes is not to be my best friend. That hat is to be the president of the organization and to be a businessman, and that sucks.
“You love each other, but the business side comes out, and you have to deal with it.“
“I’m not saying we’ve hugged and cried and shared tears at this moment,” Wade said, “but I love Pat and will always love Pat. And I know he feels the say way about me.“
This is simply one of those times where years of loyalty and dedication to each other was overlapped by a couple days of pure business and sometimes that can get depressing for the fan watching but what’s done is done. Also a side note. Why did nobody tell me that the Heat were selling Wade jerseys at $13!?
