One of the most socially-conscious players in the entire NBA along with his friend LeBron James is Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade. Wade has done an excellent job using his global spotlight to bring attention to certain matters, and he has done so again in light of the high school shooting in Parkland, Florida.
Obviously building a huge part of his character in Florida, Wade found it necessary to make sure the students knew they were in everyone’s thoughts and prayers by visiting Stoneman Douglas High School himself. When Laura Ingraham made her ignorant comments about LeBron James and how basketball players shouldn’t voice their opinions, she brought even more attention to the issue.
Wade recognizes this, and in his support of the Parkland shooting survivors, the shooting guard knows his platform gives him the opportunity to speak what he feels.

Along with Dwyane Wade’s latest comments, James also let it be known that he would not back down from Laura Ingraham. The two were a stellar duo on the court during their years in Miami and are both also leading the charge for political and social awareness off it.
Now back in Miami, Wade will likely remain involved with the recovery process that is still being worked through at Stoneman Douglas High School as the victims and survivors try to move forward from the tragedy.
