Dwyane Wade is declaring the 2018-19 season his last. He’s coming back for ‘one last dance’ with the Miami Heat. After Miami’s season came to an end in the playoffs at the hands of the Philadelphia 76ers, quite possibly the biggest question mark for next season was the status of Dwyane Wade. The 12-time All-Star and three-time NBA Champion was not making it clear where he was leaning, and that was for good reason. He was legitimately torn between calling it a career or coming back once again.
As training camps approach for teams Wade’s status with the Heat was the last major puzzle piece in the NBA offseason. We got through the NBA Finals, free agency, summer league and even a blockbuster trade but no one still heard anything from Wade. He decided to break his silence and talk about his decision to come back and play for the Miami Heat, for one last season.
Wade took to YouTube and talked about why he is returning and the process he took to get to this decision.
One final season with the Heat means Wade will most likely get a farewell tour similar to what Kobe Bryant received back in the 2015-16 season. And he deserves it.
Wade’s resume speaks for itself. Three-time NBA champion, 12-time NBA All-Star, NBA Finals MVP in 2006, an eight-time selection to an All-NBA team, three-time selection to the NBA’s All-Defensive team and a former scoring champion in 2009. We might not get some poster dunks or clutch shots in this last season but it should be great to celebrate one of the NBA’s greatest shooting guards.
